Spring 2014 Watch List
I had very few dramas interested me from last season and I have barely finished them. Lol Actually, I only started watching 2: Lost Days and Ashita, Mama ga inai and I have yet to finish both. I wasn't exactly in the mood to watch.

I had already planned on finishing some dramas that I started watching from last year's list however, I wasn't able to do it as well. What I did was revisit old faves. Basically, I binge watched Nodame Cantabile (drama, 2SPs & 2Movies included), Swing Girls, Saikou no Rikon (drama), Tonari no Totoro, Hauru no Ugoku Shiro, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi and Tiger & Bunny series... I also marathoned Brooklyn Nine-Nine (it's really cool if you guys want to watch a fun american comedy series please do so ;D)

Anyway, Spring is here! I'm quite excited because Spring and Fall drama seasons are my favorites. It's not just the setting of the dramas but it's because I find the drama line-up most interesting in the two seasons. Here's my list: * fingers crossed that I maybe able to watch them all~*

Hanako to Anne

I have yet to see the raw for this one. For obvious reasons: Yoshitaka Yuriko is one of my girl crushes so naturally, I'd be watching this for her. In other reasons, “Anne of Green Gables” is one of those stories that I grew up with as a child (watching the japanese animated version of this was part of my childhood LOL) thus, I'm curious about the background story of the lady who translated the novel to Japanese. Based on the trailers, there are a lot of lines in English so I think it would be easy to understand this even if it's raw.

Gokuaku Ganbo

For FujiTV's new getsuku format of having real actors in lead roles, I'm giving this drama all of my support despite the fact that I cannot contribute to the ratings. I'm praying for it's success so that the getsuku timeslot can be back to it's former glory. I mean, why cast Gouriki Ayame [Disclaimer: I don't hate her. I'm just bitter that she got a lead role in a Monday9 drama while better actresses have yet to. :P] in a getsuku lead when actresses like Ono Machiko, who are far more experienced and versatile have yet to be cast. Well now, Ono Machiko is the lead and she's got an AMAZING supporting cast so I'm praying really hard that this drama will be successful so that actors/actresses who have yet to prove that they have actual skills don't have to be cast as lead next time. I'm really hoping that this drama will serve as an eye-opener for everyone.

Bitter Blood

Will be watching for Detective Takeru and his on-screen dad Watabe Atsuro-san. I think this drama will be fun. If I need a serious detective drama this season I'll be tuning in to Mozu anyway. XD

Mozu Season 1

I'm definitely watching this because of the awesome cast. Also, I really liked what TBSxWowow collaboration did with Double Face~ so it's also one of the reasons why I'm looking forward to this. Season 2 will air on WOWOW in Summer.

Alice no Toge

I missed Ueno Juri a looooot (case in point: me binge-watching Nodame followed by Swing Girls)! I'm also excited that this is a dark role for her. I think has the potential to be a great comeback drama/renzoku for her. I'll just keep my fingers crossed on the script. :3

Shinigami-kun

I enjoy watching Ohno is dramas especially when he is working on a peculiar character (technically, that's what most of his roles are. lol but I honestly didn't really enjoy Kaibutsu-kun. lol). Although I don't really like Kiritani Mirei, I have another reason to watch this: I'm looking forward to all of Suda Masaki's scenes. XD

Yowakutemo Katemasu

It's been a while since I last saw a Nino drama. He and Ohno are two of my favorite JE actors (and honestly I think there are only a few of them) Also, I'm looking out for the young supporting cast: Fukushi Sota, Yamazaki Kento, Hongo Kanata, Sakurada Dori, Hiraoka Takuma to name a few.

I'm also quite curious about River's Edge because of the writer (he did Moteki and Mahoro Eki Mae Bangaichi) and because Odagiri Joe is also in it. I think it'll be fun. I'm also curious on Long Goodbye because it's on NHK and it's got a great cast. Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi S2 reminds me that I need to watch the first season first. I'll watch it eventually. Oh! Sakamoto Yuji also has a WOWOW drama this season, Mosaic Japan starring Nagayama Kento, I'm not sure if I want to see it because the plot isn't my cup of tea. I guess I'll have to check out the reviews first.

My friend, you can visit asian direct download for various drama, including Hanako to Anne. I already got myself the first week (6 eps), before I come to consciousness: NO MORE ASADORA. I remember the pain of waiting for the next episode for 26 weeks!!!! Oh noooo!
I was tempted to see Kaku Kento, though. *ugh*

Anyway, I'm planning to watch all the dorama on your list, too. XD

Wow! They have Hanako to Anne! I was only checking d-addicts for that. (lol) Thank you!
Is it good so far? Ahh yes, the pain of watching asadoras. I totally understand. XD Yuriko would start to appear this Monday, if I'm not mistaken, so Kento might appear this week too!. :D

Yay! Same watch list! \(^o^)/

Wow, I didn't know Hanako to Anne is based on Anne of Green Gables! ~All my childhood memories! Maybe I should check it out now... although I never got through many episodes of asadoras in the past lol

Yes! Childhood memories! <3<3<3

lol I have a terrible habit of watching asadoras: which is losing interest mid-way. XD
Sometimes, I think it'll be better to wait til it has finished although it can be forgotten under a pile of other dramas to watch. lol

Finally made it. From your post, you likely implied that you drop Amachan, didn't you? Well, perhaps long dramas never suit your style, but I like it all the way to the end though the ending is a bit weak.

As dramas I'm looking forward to, I'd go with River's Side Detective (hurrah for Ohne Hitoshi!!), Alice's Thorn, and Gin Nikan. Will check out Mozu and Gokuaku Ganbo.

I watched the 1st episode of Gin Nikan (without subs, though) and it is solid (and a string of soundtrack to die for, very NHK-esque). Shame no one talking about this drama since it's a jidageki. Hope they keep the quality all the way to the end

Yeah, I dropped Amachan somewhere in the middle. (lol) Somehow I got bored though I plan to pick it up again. I think I'm gonna go with one-two episodes a day instead of going for a lot of episodes in one sitting, that might be a big help. I guess I liked it more with actual Ama storyline the shift somewhat made me lose interest. ^^;

Gin Nikan with Hayashi Kento right? I'll take a peek. Thanks for the rec!

I personally think Kudokan did a shift to idol story-arc to make the story line less predictable afterwards, though somewhat I call those playing in the arc (especially the GMT kids) as "cannon fodders". Yup for some audiences it doesn't do justice since the kids are excellent youngsters, but it's paid off at the end of the arc.

Yes, it has Hayashi and interesting supporting cast line up: Ashimana, mega-underrated wonderkid Matsuoka Mayu, and Ben-san from Amachan, but I watched it on a Japanese site (the RAW hasn't been available though):

Oh! Glad to know it pays off at the end of the arc. lol Thanks for the motivation! :D

Interesting line-up. I'll check it out soon. Maybe we can request raredoramas to upload the raw file and hopefully attract subbers.

Already did. Hope they can act fast, this one is just too good to go down the drain
