Saikou no Rikon
I promised to write something about this drama before the special airs and guess what? the SP airs tonight. LOL

Saikou no Rikon is the drama that I had enjoyed the most throughout 2013. This is by no means a perfect drama however, it is definitely THE most entertaining drama of 2013.

Let's start with the good things, shall we?
First up are the actors mainly Eita and Ono Machiko. Words are not enough to describe their talent and chemistry. They are perfect in their roles. I shipped Mitsuo and Yuka so hard that I only wished for their genuine happiness which, is with each other. lol The supporting characters were also good two but these two are just really strong.

Next is the script, though like what I said above, it's not perfect. There were some scenes where I thought were unnecessary but overall, it told a very good story that left me wanting for more. The lines are very strong and witty it's a consistently strong factor as to why I liked this drama so much. I picked up a lot of wonderful quotes in the drama.

Third is the camerawork, I think I mentioned this already in my first saikou no rikon post. The camera was placed in unusual places that makes the scene feel more personal.

Fourth is the soundtrack and the theme song. The soundtrack is just perfect. It fits the tone of the drama so well and I really listen to it every now and then. It's fun and whimsical, relaxing and heart-warming. Divorce Rhapsody and Sweet Honey Home are my favorite tracks. Yin Yang is still awesome as it's fun and seductive and I just love it even more when the actors dance to it in the credits.

Special mention, Hassaku and Matilda.♥

So basically, all the reasons why I got hooked to this drama from the first episode still stands. [visit the post HERE]

Along with the good things, there were also things that I didn't really like, they aren't bad nor hated I just think that this could have been changed. One is how Akari and Ryo are written. At first it was intriguing but it felt stale afterwards (I guess this describes their relationship too) like I couldn't get myself invested in them through the course of the story. Though I genuinely think that this could be improved in the upcoming SP. The actors were really on-point though.

There's also this unnecessary plot device like[Spoiler (click to open)]
Yuka turning into a kissing monster when drunk and ends up kissing Ryo at a bar. I think this one is self-explanatory as to why I didn't like it. lol

Conclusion: Obviously, the good stuff outweighs those that I didn't like. This is a gem of a drama and it definitely goes in to my all time favorite list. It's light-hearted yet it made me cry a lot because of strong acting, great lines and touching scenes. I bawled my eyes out with the ending starting from Mitsuo & Yuka's train scenes all the way to finding Hassaku and Matilda. Sometimes, the simplest things just gets me such as simple happy endings. :')

Even with the perfect ending, it left me wanting for more. Like wanting to see Mitsuo and Yuka with children, going camping with Akari and Ryo things that were brought up in the drama and I'm happy that it looks like the SP will be tackling these. So I'm really excited~! :3

I had to watch this a second time to fully enjoy it. Part of me feels that this could have been a disaster if different actors had been chosen instead. When I watch other dramas, I can easily sit and think "Oh, what if so and so was played by this actor?" But it's not something that crossed my mind here. I'm waiting to see the SP.

I agree.

I've seen the SP and I have yet to fully write my thoughts about it but I cried a lot. lol
